AeA, the largest high-tech trade association in the United States, has ranked Kansas 3rd nationally in the area of high-tech wage growth from 2001-2006, in a recent study. Kansas' tech wages have grown 15.5 percent in the past five years.
According to AeA, tech wages in many states have followed the national pattern, peaking in 2000, declining in the subsequent years, and currently rebounding. Nationwide, 47 of the 52 states had average high-tech wages that were 50 percent higher than private sector wages.
The study, Cyberstates 2008: A Complete State-by-State Overview of the High-Technology Industry, is the 11th annual edition and examines the high-technology industry in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It provides new 2007 national data on tech employment and venture capital investments. It also includes the latest data on high-tech wages, establishments, payroll and research and development (R&D) expenditures.
